The Sheffield Depot Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations, logistics, and staff management at the Sheffield depot. This role involves ensuring the efficient and cost-effective delivery of services while maintaining high standards of safety, customer service, and compliance. The Depot Manager will lead a small team of warehouse and administrative personnel, optimising depot performance and implementing best practices across all operational areas.


Responsibilities:

  • To ensure the optimum utilisation of all company resources; responsible to ensure that the depot operates to maximum profitability and minimize stock loss.
  • To optimise company resources to cover site visits and sales.
  • Actively seeking new business for the company at every opportunity.
  • Responsible for the welfare and safety of all personnel, both office and yard staff and for all Health and Safety implications within the depot.
  • Reporting all incidents on Atlas.
  • Manage daily operations and activities, managing continuous improvements for your depot.
  • Reporting to senior Managers for each department relating to all sales, operational and depot activities.
  • Ensuring all administration duties and procedures are followed by all staff for your depot and are completed effectively.
  • Liaising with other departments within the company, Transport, Accounts, HR, buying to ensure seamless processes.
  • Perform regular performance reviews alongside HR for all depot staff and implement/manage any action points as required.
  • Undertake regular operational meetings with HR, Transport, Buying and manage action points.
  • Monitor all operations of the depot in relation to collections and deliveries to ensure the highest level of service is provided.
  • Oversee maintenance and upkeep of the buildings, yard and machinery.
  • Responsible for employment of staff and staff performance.  HR to be involved for office based vacancies (including buying, sales, internal, external, accounts, transport, etc).  
  • Monitor and implement the relevant training for all staff.
  • Manage annual leave for all staff and ensure replacement staff are organised.
  • Keep HR fully updated with any communication with staff i.e., holidays, sickness, grievances, any issues that arise, etc.
